Membership Info

CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL BUILDING DESIGNER
Members must meet the requirements of and receive certification from the National Council of Building Designer Certification, and devote 50% or more work time to the profession of building design.

PROFESSIONAL BUILDING DESIGNER
Members are required to be actively engaged in the professional practice of building design for at least five (5) years, either as the proprietor of or as a design employee of a firm providing building design services, and to devote 50% or more work time to the profession of building design. Up to two (2) years of related education may be substituted for an equal amount of experience.

ASSOCIATE
Members are individuals, who do not meet the requirements for Professional Membership, or firms whose business interests are related to the building design profession and are local in nature.

DESIGN STUDENT
Members are students participating in courses of instruction in architecture, engineering, architectural drafting or design technology at a university, college, vocational or high school, or individuals who are participating in the AIBD On-the-Job Training program.

EDUCATOR MEMBER
Members are instructors of subjects pertinent to the profession of building design.
